What is Rebounding?

A rebounder is a mini-trampoline. Rebounding is jumping up and down on the mini-trampoline for its many health benefits. It also has some fancy names like a cellerciser or a lymphasizer. It is called these fancy names because of what it does to our body’s cells and our lymph system when we rebound.

The Science Behind Rebounding

Our bodies are made up of around 30 trillion cells. These cells give us life. If we take care of our cells, in return, our cells provide us with life and plenty of energy. There are three basic things a cell needs to survive: water, oxygen, and a way to eliminate its own waste. Water and oxygen are easy to get, but how do you get a cell to eliminate its own waste?

Well, there is a system in our body called the lymphatic system. It is a network of organs and tissues that help our body get rid of its waste. It also transports white blood cells through the body that help fight off infections. We have twice as much lymph fluid as we have blood in our bodies. Blood is moved around by the pumping of the heart. Lymph, on the other hand, relies on physical movement to get moved around. When we aren’t moving, our lymph fluid isn’t flowing, and we are more prone to diseases.

So, where does a mini-trampoline fit into all this?

Our bodies are made to be moved and exercised. This lets our lymph system pump and cleanse the body efficiently. Jumping up and down has been shown to have the most impact on the flow of lymph in the body. This effect is multiplied when on a rebounder. When you jump, for a split second you are weightless, this is followed by a massive increase of gravity when you are at the bottom of your jump. This movement allows the lymph fluid to flow effectively and work its magic. Cleansing the body and removing waste.

Rebounding Gives You More Energy

So moving the body makes the lymph system flow. This lets your cells eliminate their waste, thus in return, the cells give you energy. Motion creates energy, and rebounding is the most effective way to get your lymph moving.

Rebounding also increases your heart rate and makes you take deeper breaths. Something I am sure we don’t do enough of daily. Remember the three basic needs of a cell? Water, oxygen, and a way for it to eliminate its own waste. When you rebound, you not only eliminate your body’s waste, but you also give your body a lot of oxygen.

In the middle of my day, when I am starting to feel sluggish, I go to my rebounder and jump for 15 minutes. My heart rate goes up, and I start taking deep breaths. When I step off the rebounder, I am feeling energized and ready to tackle the rest of my day.

Rebounding and Mental Health

My friends and family say I get the biggest smile on my face when I am rebounding. Of course, how could I be sad while jumping on a trampoline? It reminds me of what it’s like to be a kid again.

Motion creates emotion. Studies show exercising gives you more energy and leads to better mental health.

One day I got angry for some reason while rebounding. So I starting bouncing hard. The more I pushed down at the bottom of the bounce, the more the bungee trampoline bounced me back. It turned into a fun stress reliever.

Meditating on a Rebounder

I bought my rebounder so I could lymphasize and get more energy. However, I also found myself having a lot of mental clarity while rebounding.

The rebounder became my zen space.

When I am lifting weights, all my focus is on the weights. However, when I am rebounding, I breathe deeply and focus on being present.

If I start to overthink, I’ll go off-center of the rebounder and potentially fall off. It’s hard not to think about jumping. So I can’t not think about jumping, and I can’t overthink while jumping. This creates a mental state of being present, being in the flow state.

It was during this state when I noticed I get some of my best ideas. When I step off of the rebounder, I am energized and have plenty of ideas I need to write down.

Bungee Rebounder vs. Spring Rebounder

There are two types of rebounders, a Bungee Rebounder, and a Spring Rebounder. While both give you the benefits of rebounding, they are quite different from each other.

Bungee rebounders don’t give you the highest bounce as a spring rebounder would. However, the bounce on a bungee rebounder is softer, which makes it better for your knees.

Bungee rebounders are quieter since they use bungee chords instead of metal springs.

Bungee rebounders are safer. With spring rebounders, there is a chance you might step on a spring and hurt your foot. Most spring rebounders nowadays come with a protective cover over the metal springs.

Spring rebounders are foldable. You can put them away and easily travel with them if you need to. Bungee rebounders are permanent once you build them.

Overall Thoughts on Rebounding

Rebounding has become part of daily routine now. I can’t imagine not doing it anymore. I feel as if my day is not complete unless I rebound for at least 10 minutes.

A lot of the work I do all day requires me to sit in a chair. So my body can’t wait until I rebound again.

Some days I’ll blast music when I rebound, and other days I’ll listen to an audiobook on Audible. Regardless I step off of my rebounder, always feeling energized.

I hope this has been helpful and insightful. My Bungee Rebounder has been the best purchase I have made this year so far.
