7 Gifts Every DnD Player Needs

I asked my Dungeons and Dragons group what they thought some of the best DnD related gifts are. This is a collection of their suggestions and some things that I have seen be wonderful gifts to a DnD player.

A great gift is one that gets used often. So here is a list of things that every Dungeons and Dragons player wants and will use.

A hardcore DnD player will take A LOT of notes. So why not give them a fancy antique-looking journal. Not only will they love having it at the table as it fits the Dungeons and Dragons theme, but they will also be using it often. I’ve seen players get lost in their journals. They were writing down what happened every session from their character’s perspective. It’s useful, and it keeps great memories!

There is a Spellbook Deck for every single class in the game. Give a gift that’s personalized to a player’s favorite class. These make great gifts, especially to a player who plays a class that casts spells. Spellcasting classes can be a lot to manage. Spellbook Cards make it easy. Instead of flipping through books looking up spells, players will have their selection of spells in front of them as a handful of easy to read cards. It’s a great way to stay organized and keep the pace of the game going.

Note, the Warlock, Wizard, Sorcerer, and Artificer class all use the Arcane Deck while every other class has its own Spell Deck for sale.

You can always guarantee a DnD player has three things in front of them, their character sheet, dice, and a drink. So why not let the drink stand out? A medieval tankard fits the Dungeons and Dragons setting perfectly. Give the player a cup that makes them feel more immersed in their game. Alk while at the same time making their friends jealous. This is the Tankard I personally use every single session, and I am quite impressed with its quality.

This is one of the most fun games I have ever played. Dungeon Mayhem is an easy to learn card game for 2-4 players. Great for people who want to play something fun and DnD related without having to go through all the hard work of setting up a session. The matches are quick, and they keep you wanting to play more.

There is also a Baldur’s Gate Expansion as well as a bigger version of this game for up to 6 players called Dungeon Mayhem: Monster Madness.

Take it from someone who has been a Dungeon Master for a long time. At some point, players will FORGET to bring stuff. It’s embarrassing showing up to a session without your dice, notes, or even character sheet. It happens more often than you think. However, I noticed that the players who keep all their DnD stuff in one spot never seem to have this issue. This is a bag one of my players use. I have seen it perfectly fit his Players Handbook, notebook, miniature, spell cards, and dice. I believe a reliable bag for all your DnD stuff is a MUST.

Specifically, their own personal Players Handbook. Why? This book is essentially the Bible when it comes to Dungeons and Dragons. It carries the tools needed to not only create characters but to also dispute rules. I’ve run games where players wait as they pass around the one Players Handbook at the table, all trying to figure something out. I’ve also run games where almost all players had a copy of their own Players Handbook. Everyone looks up rules, spells, and abilities at their own pace, keeping the game moving. In an ideal game, each player should have their own personal copy of this book.

Here is the one thing you can NEVER go wrong with, more dice. Especially a set of good quality dice. DnD players tend to fall in love with a set of dice. Often calling them their “Lucky dice.” Then using them and only them. If you want to get a great gift that will be used very often, get them a set of great dice. That way, every time that player rolls a natural 20, they think of you.

A friend gifted me this set of metal dice for my birthday one day. It has been my favorite set ever since! Not only do they come in a fancy metal box, but they also come with four six-sided dice. Those come in handy because, in Dungeons and Dragons, you will be rolling six-sided dice a lot.

I hope this list has been helpful!
